I have grown up with speedway in my blood and have been at the track since i was born. My Dad (Bob Smith) has raced all my life out of Wanganui,  I did a few seasons back in my school days. In 2007 my son (Dylan) turned 8 and we got him into Karting, he then moved to circuit racing and speedway, we have been at the track most weekends since.

In 2006 selling started selling Scrapbooking and Toys online, some 3000 plus product lines. When my son started racing we saw the need for a entry level karting range and so Lightning Race Gear was born.
